This morning I joined the Don Rua community for the Sunday liturgy. We celebrated the "feast" of All Souls (giorno dei morti). It was a good celebration. Peter Gonsalves is in that community this year, and he invited me to breakfast afterwards. He told me of efforts being made in Bombay to convey Don Bosco's principles and methods into a language that would make sense to non-Christians. He is currently working with a team from Bombay on this project, and they are delveloping a blog. It is still at the beginning stage, but the intent is t open up the Salesian experience.
Thus, instead of talking about the Preventive System, they are using the term Don Bosco's Way. And this is the name of their blog: Don Bosco's Way!
This was nice to learn on a Sunday morning. I wish Peter and his cohort the best of luck in this effort. It is vital for the new age in which we are now living.
In the evening, as we have in other years, all six of the UPS Salesian communities will gather in the university chapel to pray the rosary for the Salesians that have died. Later in the week there will be a trip to Genzano where many of the community's dead have been buried. Day of the Day (il giorno dei morti) is taken very seriously here at the university, but throughout Italy in general.
