Yesterday Team Italy won the World Cup! The last time Italy won was in 1982. In nearly every other tournament since, the Azzurri were eliminated in penalty kicks. But yesterday Italy managed to make all five penalty kicks, while France made only three. This was after two 45-minute halves, and two 15-minute overtime halves. Both teams were beyond the point of exhaustion, unable to overcome a 1-1 tie game.
But I'll let the sports commentators make their comments. For me the sweet fact is that Italy has won the championship again. I've always rooted for the Azzurri ever since 1978 when I first learned of the World Cup in football (soccer).
